That's right! I am coming home tomorrow! My flight leaves London at 11:30 am (GBT) and arrives in Orlando via Newark, NJ at 7:30 pm (EST). I am so excited!!! As I am writing this I am exactly 24 hours from my flight taking off. Did I say I was excited? :)
For those who knew I was working on a magazine for an end-of-the-year project with 3 other classmates. We created a 64 page magazine complete with departments, ads, features, etc. in about 2 weeks. Incredible if I may say so myself. It was a highly successful presentation with our graders searching for things to ask us at the end, because we covered everything so well in the presentation. It may seem like I am gloating a bit, but we worked so hard that to have such a successful presentation made it all worth it. Now I even have a piece to put in my portfolio since - if you didn't know - my entire portfolio disappeared when my iPod crashed over the summer.
Yesterday we (my programme at Sotheby's) went over the next semester, and even though I am exhausted and need a break, I am so excited about what we are gonig to be doing! I have decided to do a Contemporary Photography option that will be 1 day a week for about 8 weeks next semester. I cannot wait to learn about all the technologies and techniques that are used and to be inspired by what I see for my own photography.
In general, my Cont. Photo option in addition to the ongoing Contemporary Art programme, we going to be writing a lot of papers, reading a lot of books and articles, but it is going to be incredible. I cannot believe I have such an amazing opportunity to learn and in such a great city. All of the resources I could possibly need are right at my fingertips. I am truly blessed to be here. PLUS!!! We are going to Documenta XII, which is a huge German art exhibit of sorts that occurs every 5 years AND we are going to be able to see it! The art that is shown at Documenta usually shapes the following 4 years of the art market. It is going to be incredible!!!
I must go now. I have one more presentation to sit in on and then I am going to do a bit of shopping, buy a ticket to see Wicked, go pack, and then go see Wicked!!! I will be on a plane tomorrow! I hope I can sleep :) That's why I am trying to pack my day with things that will make me tired.
Thank you to everyone who reads this, has e-mailed me, mailed me letters, etc. This has been a great experience already, and I know it's going to be even more amazing next semester!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas holiday!
Cheers!
