We need prayer please :)

Kendall and I received a reply from our letting agent that there are only 3 options in getting out of our current contract.

1. They will find a replacement tenant. We continue to pay until they do find a replacement, and once they find a replacement we pay the letting agent £860.

2. We find a replacement that they check out (references and bank statements, etc.) and we pay the letting agent only £120.

3. Pay the remainder of our lease agreement and move out. (Obviously can't afford that)

So as of 8pm my time I have posted ads on loot.com, gumtree, craigslist and a free site called OLX. I just talked to one of our friends who worked with Bunac, she said to request to post there and Kendall had the idea to put an ad in our church newspaper. I am about to do those.

So we need prayers that we find suitable tenants by Friday (ideally) so that we can go ahead with the plans of moving in to the new place. I can't stress to you how excited I am to be able to live with Laura, Megan and Kendall in such an amazing flat in an ideal area. It is so close to church :) Please pray this works out. Thank you and I will keep everyone posted.

Precipitation and Paleontology

Here are a couple of pictures Kendall took of the snow that fell on Wednesday morning!

This is looking out from the front step of our flat

This is the sidewalk in front of our house

Here are some pictures from my presentation that I gave the first day back to school. We were asked to give an account of an exhibition we saw over the Christmas break. This is the one I chose to present :) haha

This is a syntarsus made by Guy Durrough from clay, plastic and fiberglass. Installed at the McKee Botanical Gardens. Durrough is a paleontologist and artist...who makes dinosaur sculptures :) haha

Katelyn stealing a dinosaur egg. Klepto.

Kendall gave her presentation before I did, and the professor asked her some pretty serious questions afterwards. He chose me to go next, and I apologized in advance saying that I didn't know our exhibition had to be so super serious. He laughed and said, "Oh, you forgot you were doing an MA?" haha haha ha. wow. anyway. I think he really liked it. It was nice to have something diffrent from "Well, I saw Kara Walker." or "I saw Ansel Adams." Who has seen or even heard of Guy Durrough? No one. Exactly. Well not outside of the paleontology buffs :) It was a nice "Welcome back to grad school" time. Good stuff.

Adios for now!

Update!

I made it back safely to London on Monday! Being home was so refreshing and beyond wonderful. I love my family so much. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to them, but I knew I couldn't delay the ineveitable of returning to school. Therefore, it was a tearful goodbye, but I chose to be excited about this semester's opportunities so that I wouldn't be too terribly sad. :)

So far so good! I had a good first week back at school. Talked about the Western Canon. Always exciting :) haha And we learned about Documenta I - IX (exhibition held in Kassel, Germany every 4/5 years). It was quite a long lecture, but VERY exciting and informative. We are going to Doucmenta XII this June!

Yesterday and today Kendall and I looked with our two friends Megan and Laura for a new place to live. We found a place today!!! It's A-MAZING!!! I am so excited! It's in West Kensington, 5 minutes from the tube and buses, 4 blocks from High Street Kensington, 30 minute bus ride from Notting Hill/Hyde Park, AND is only a few stops from our church on the tube!!! It's in a really nice area and isn't a cracker box. It's definitely a blessing :) We have a balcony, too! I will take pictures the next time we go over there and post them on here.

Oh, and we had snow on Wednesday! Kendall has pictures that I will post after she e-mails them to me. It wasn't a lot, and it melted by the end of the day, but it made everything so pretty! Brightened up the day. Loved it :) Hope everyone is doing well. Take care!
